Music Mentors – Week of September 2nd

What a great week! Kudos to the Drum Line for their participation in the United Way event at the Captain’s Stadium on Wednesday. Congrats to the FCMB for an awesome 1st game and Congrats to our football team for earning their first win of the season. We hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day Holiday and hope you enjoyed your weekend! Here’s what’s going on this week in band:

Tag Day

Tag Day is Saturday, September 7th. FCMB should wear their summer uniform. We ask that everyone arrive before 8 am. We will be there ready to hand out routes at 7:30 am. Getting there a little bit early helps us keep the registration line down and allows you time to get a donut and a cup of coffee before heading into the FAC for our meeting before we send everyone out. We want to thank everyone in advance for their participation and patience on this day. Look for more details to come this week.

September 6th, MHS vs St. Ignatius at home

Our first home game is this Friday. This game will be well attended so we suggest for those attending to try and arrive early. Call time for FCMB is 4:30 pm. As a reminder, the FCMB students do not go concessions and their 3rd quarter break is spent in the end zone. Parents and friends are not permitted in the end zone to visit. But you are welcome to visit them along them fence. We do have water and snacks for them during 3rd quarter.
At the end of the game, the FCMB does march back to the school and they will turn in uniforms for the first time. This can take awhile as it is the first time they are doing it. They are also receiving something special to commemorate their year with the FCMB. With that in mind, your student will not be out for a little bit after marching into the building.

Committee Help and Donations

As we only have a new parent meeting in the summer, we’d like to take this opportunity to make sure that everyone knows they are welcome to help and volunteer with Music Mentors and we are always looking for help. We have several committees that could use help throughout the season. There is so much to be gained by volunteering but watching your student is by far the most rewarding. If you are interested in helping out, please contact the committee chair by email.
Hospitality
Hospitality can always use help with donations for 3rd quarter meet and greets. We usually have at least 500 students to feed during 3rd quarter. We ask that every student in FCMB donates one case of water. If you haven’t done so yet, we can still use water and it can be dropped off on Fridays at call time.
If you would like to help out with snack donations, please email Kary at [email protected]. We truly appreciate it.
Scholarship Committee
Our scholarship committee is gearing up for our big event in November, our annual band banquet. Kim and her committee are always looking for volunteers. There are so many various ways to help here. From gathering donations, follow up calls, making baskets- we can always use your help. Contact Kim at [email protected] if you’d like to join this fun committee.
Service Crew
Service crew helps load and unload the truck and get equipment to and from the home field. They help build and fix equipment and get props on the field. They welcome everyone and would love to add some new talent to their committee. Email Anthony at [email protected] if you are interested.
Chaperones
Colleen has lots of events to arrange chaperones for and would love to see more new faces. Home games, away games, competitions – if you’d like to join us, email Colleen at [email protected].
Uniforms
The Uniform committee works year round with both marching band and concert band. We’d love to add some more parents to help us make our students look the best they can. Contact Carol at [email protected].
50/50
One of most vital committees-50/50 is responsible for selling 50/50 at the home football games. This is one of our main fundraisers and we need some outgoing people to help us out at every home game. If you like to talk to people, are outgoing and would love to get some exercise while watching some great football , please contact Mike at [email protected].
As you can see, we have a place for everyone and hope to see some more faces join our fun organization!
