Week of September 10, 2017

First and foremost – I want to THANK EVERYONE for their hard work and efforts for our Annual Tag Day! Thank you to all my volunteers helping behind the scenes and most of all to our students and parents who took the time out of your weekend to assist our band program! New district policies, another group doing a tag day for their organization and Hurricanes Harvey and Irma had me worried, but you all pulled through for us! Numbers are not finalized yet and once they are, we will pass them on, but I can say it was a HUGE success!

September 11, 2017: Extra help session for pass off’s 2:45 – 3:30 pm
September 12, 2017: Tuesday, Rehearsal, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
September 13, 2017: BLAZE Dine to Donate. 5 – 8 pm
September 14, 2017: Thursday, Rehearsal, 2:30 – 4:30 PM
September 15, 2017: Friday, Mentor @ Strongsville, 7 pm kick – off; Call time 3:30 pm (Make sure you grab something to eat BEFORE call time!)

September 18, 2017: Rehearsal 6 – 9 pm
September 20, 2017: LCMEA – Marching Band Festival 7 pm, Call time is 5 pm, $5 admission (benefits LCMEA)
September 22, 2017: Home Game and Middle School night , 7 pm
September 23, 2017: 1st Competition of the Season – University of Akron. We will have a morning call time and an afternoon performance time. More specific details to come soon. This was originally the date with 2 competitions. We are now only performing at one!

Scholarship Raffle Donations Needed

This year’s FCMB Banquet is on Sunday, November 12, 2017. During the banquet, we host a Chinese Auction as a way to raise funds for our scholarships for the end of the year. We are looking for donations to place in the baskets for the Chinese auction. If you know of any business that might like to donate to our scholarship fundraiser, please use the Scholarship Donation letter located on the Music Mentors website. This letter explains that we are a non-profit, tax exempt organization, what the donation is for and how to donate. The website also has a list (Scholarship Donation Progress Worksheet) of the businesses we have already contacted and those who have donated. We want to be sure we do not approach a business multiple times. If you contact a business, please let Mary McFarland know by emailing her at scholarships@musicmentors.org or call 440-669-9842 to help us keep this up to date. Also, if you have any large baskets, or any item’s you would like to donate, please contact Mary.


Blaze Pizza Fundraiser, Sept. 13, 2017 5 – 8 pm
If you haven’t had the opportunity to try Blaze Pizza yet, or maybe you have and you absolutely LOVE it – make Wednedsay night – pizza night and support the band in the process! You must print out the Blaze flyer and present it when you are ordering! Thank You!

Rally for Ruhe
As some of you may have heard or seen, there is a fundraiser that MHS Volleyball is putting together for one of our very own, Kris Ruhe. Kris Ruhe is the mom of Daniel, one of our FCMB students and she was a very active member in Music Mentors in the past. She is currently battling Adrenal Gland Cancer and this fundraiser, called Rally for Ruhe, is for her. The volleyball game is on Tuesday, September 19 at MHS. During this game, there will be a 50/50 drawing and a Chinese Auction to benefit her and her family. If you would like to contribute to a gift card basket that Music Mentors will be donating, please contact Cheryl VanDemark at matrix43@att.net. Thank you!
