What a fun week! The Strongsville band put on a great show, the Mentor Cards brought us another win and the FCMB and the middle schoolers who performed with us did a fantastic job!! Kudos to all!

For this week’s game, we are traveling to Brunswick. Call time is immediately after school on Friday, so for many students, there will not be an opportunity for them to go home and get food and snacks. They should bring money for concessions and snacks with them to school in the morning if they wish. We are offering our students the opportunity to purchase a meal from Great Harvest that will be ready for them right after school. The order form is linked below and will offer 4 choices. Each sandwich, will come with a bag of chips, a chocolate chip cookie and water. Checks should be made payable to Music Mentors. This order form is due Wednesday with payment if you choose to order.

Tuesday, Sept. 18th: No Rehearsal!
Thursday, Sept. 20th: Rehearsal 2:35 – 4:30 pm
Friday, Sept. 21st:: MHS @ Brunswick! Call time is 2:40pm (so directly after school).
Saturday, Sept. 22nd: Revere High School Competition. Call time is 3 pm. Performance time is approximately 8:15 PM.

September 28-29th: MHS @ Medina then depart for overnight stay for the Buckeye Invitational. We will return Saturday night, very late.

Many people have been asking so we want to give everyone a head start on planning. Senior night for the band is Friday, October 26th. Letters will be coming out within a week or two.

Competition Information

Saturday, September 22nd – Revere High School

Call time is 3 pm. Performance time is approximately 8:15 pm. For those of you new to Marching Band Competitions – There is an admission fee and it will vary. Typically it is $10 or less for these smaller ones that we attend. Please give yourselves ample time to get to the venue, and in your seats before Mentor is to perform. Entering and exiting the bleachers is closed while a band is performing. So you must be in your seats before Mentor takes the field. Awards are scheduled for 9:30 pm, then we will depart. We hope to see many familiar faces there!

OSU Buckeye Invitational, Saturday, September 29th

The $40 fee for the OSU Buckeye Invitational is due this Friday, September 21st. Checks can be made payable to Music Mentors.

Medications: All medication forms are due this Friday, September 21st. These forms need to be filled out by a physician and returned to Mr. Poremba.

Please note – Per district policy, students are not permitted to carry or administer their own medication while on a school trip. This includes all prescription and any over the counter meds such as Tylenol, Motrin, allergy medications, cold remedies, etc. We have medication trained staff that will be responsible for administering these meds while on the trip should they be necessary. Parents that are accompanying the band will be permitted to give medications to their own children. Students with inhalers may carry them with the proper district authorization. All meds must be turned in by Wednesday September 26, in a sealed NEW container containing the medication. We will not accept any open medications. Student may not bring their own medications into the school. They must be dropped off by a parent or a guardian. Medication forms are linked below.

LCMEA Marching Band Festival is almost here!

Next Wednesday, September 26th, the FCMB will be performing at the Marching Band Festival here at Mentor High School. This event allows all of us Marching Band Fans to see and enjoy all of the Marching Bands in Lake County.
Each year, Music Mentors sells t-shirts at this event as a general fundraiser. They go quickly!!! We always offer our FMCB students the opportunity to pre-order a shirt to make sure they get one if they are interested. Again, these are not mandatory! Just something we offer! If your student would like a shirt, please remit order form and payment by this Friday, Sept. 21st.
