Full band rehearsals begin tomorrow, July 21st! Our new members, along with leadership, percussion and guard have a strong start last week and are excited for our veteran members to return.
Monday, July 21st: Full band rehearsal 8 am -noon (New members report at 9 am on Monday, Veteran members return at 8 am)
Tuesday through Thursday, July 22 – 25th: Full band rehearsal 8 am – noon
Tuesday, July 22 through Sunday, July 27th: Lake County Fair Parking Fundraiser
Paperwork to be turned in on your students first day:
* Uniform supply order form and payment;
* OMEA emergency medical form;
* Medication forms (If applicable) – Please note: all medications must be dropped off by the parents, not the students ;
* Music Mentors membership forms.
These forms can all be found on the website, www.musicmentors.org under the “Resources” tab. We cannot stress how important these three forms are! We need all supply order forms ASAP to ensure we receive our supplies in time for our first performance as well as picture day. Emergency medical forms are a MUST on day one. Band can be strenuous, and dehydration can happen quickly. The staff need to be able to contact parents should a student fall ill. Lastly, if medications are absolutely necessary, a separate supply and separate paperwork must be brought to the directors.
Please also review the “FCMB Tip sheet” on the website for some handy tips to make summer band a huge success. Most importantly – students should hydrate daily from here on! Start now! Get your body used to drinking lots of water so you are hydrated on day one!
Supply Order Forms
Supply order forms and payments are due by Tuesday, July 22nd. This is time sensitive so that we can ensure all our students supplies are order and received for our first performance at Cedar Point on August 6th! You can order online at our website or have your student turn in the order form at school.
Guard and Majorettes: Kelly Hoellein sizes the students at practice and orders all items. These payments are due July 22nd as well. Any uniform questions should be directed to Hoellein@mentorschools.org .
Additional information:
Supplies: As summer sales are in place, stock up on sunscreen, bug spray and water bottles! Getting a 1/2 – 1 gallon water jug is a must for band camp! Look for hats to protect your face and drawstring bags are awesome to have during summer band! Students will need supportive, comfortable walking shoes – no flip-flops! Quick snacks are a must – granola bars, fruit, veggies, etc. Much of this is also covered in the FCMB Tip sheet.
Volunteer Background Checks
All volunteers during the FCMB Season MUST be fingerprinted. This is easily done at the Mentor Board of Education on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s from 11:30 am – 4:30 pm. Please bring your Driver’s license and be prepared to supply your social security number. This must be done yearly. The only exception to this policy are current Mentor School district employees. Please note: At this time we are seeking only volunteers ages 23 and older.
I have supplied the link below to the information on the district website.
