FCMB Information – 05/01/2022

This Week in Band!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Spaghetti Dinner and helped us make this another successful event! We truly appreciate all your support! Special thanks to all our volunteers, and student volunteers who jumped in to help! Thank you to Mrs. Skoch and the Jazz Band for the awesome performance! Lastly, thank you to all who supported our raffles and helped us raise scholarship funds! Congrats to all the winners!

Thank you to all who attended our FCMB Informational meeting on April 20th! It was great to see so many new faces and start talking about a new marching season! For those of you unable to attend, the information can be found on the website.

HUGE THANKS!

At the beginning of the school year , we were approached by Adventure Subaru on Mentor Avenue and they chose Music Mentors as organization to support for the year for their "Share the Love" Event! If you were lucky enough to view the commercials online that our fearless directors appeared in, you may have seen this campaign! Around mid April, Mr. Poremba received an amazing email stating that Adventure Subaru was awarding Music Mentors a check for over $6300 from this campaign! To say we are grateful and appreciative is just not enough! So if you find yourself out and about shopping for a vehicle, you may want to visit Adventure Subaru as they definitely have our kids on their minds! A HUGE ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR ADVENTURE SUBARU!

2022-2023 Music Mentor Board Positions

At our April meeting, the Nominating Committee presented their slate of officers for the 2022-2023 season. The slate of officers is as follows:

President: Angie Arslanian
Vice-President: Amy Freeman
Treasurer: Julie Bates
Secretary: OPEN

As you can see the positions are unopposed but a voice vote will be held at our May meeting to ensure the nominated officers are elected by a majority vote.

As we seem to have rounded the corner of our restrictions due to Covid-19, we will be resuming with in person monthly meetings going forward and we invite you all to join us and become involved.

  2. Chaperones - Meredith Everett (willing to serve in 2022-2023) Chaperones are responsible for riding buses to away events and also monitoring our students at our home events. Many times our chaperones are also filling in for assistance with props on the field, etc so we can enter/exit in a timely fashion. Email: [email protected]
  3. Uniforms - Carol Gommel (Willing to serve for 2022-2023 but will need someone to shadow her for future years) Uniform committee is responsible for distributing and collecting uniforms after each event. Secondly, Jess also needs help on the field during the game setting up our snacks and helping distribute snacks during 3rd quarter meet and greets at our home games. Email: [email protected]
  6. Scholarship Committee - Kim Bednarski (Willing to serve for 2022-2023). These volunteers seek out donations for our scholarship raffle to be held at the end of the band season. This committee is of utmost importance as it is the primary source of income for the Senior scholarships we award in the spring.

Please note, all volunteers do need to get a background check completed at the Mentor Board of Education in the summer. This background check needs to be completed on a yearly basis.
